If you are an avid bowler and are looking to host a bowling party, bowling party supplies are a must! Balls, pins, lanes and all sorts of other bowling party supplies are absolutely necessary when throwing a bowling themed party. In order to get your guests in the mood and theme of your party, you could offer up small party favors that all surround your theme of bowling - miniature balls and pins, small electronic bowling games and tiny bowling ball key chains are a great addition to any bowling party!
Whether you are throwing a bowling themed party for a bunch of adults, or it is more of a child’s theme party, bowling party supplies are easy to find! Online is probably your best bet though, only because most party supply stores have a limited amount of bowling party supplies. If you type in ‘bowling party supplies’ in any search engine, you will be guaranteed to find all sorts of items that may not be offered in any party store, so go head and still full advantage of the internet!
Bowling party supplies while easy to find, you want to make sure you are picking the right items to go with the right type of party. For instance, if throwing a bowling themed party for an adult, you will need more adult party favors, versus having childish party favors which would fit in more with a child’s bowling themed party. I had this time in my life when every time I got to the final online poker table in an online tournament, the power would go out. Just as soon as the tenth player got knocked out, and we were all then moved with our chip stacks to the final 9 to compete for the big prizes, just as soon as the first cards were dealt, I’d heard a sound like bones cracking all through the house, and there would be no light, and the computer would be dead in my online poker hands.
Each time, I’d shout at the window, fiddle with the plug over and over trying to somehow magic the screen back into life. But always, for the duration, the house would stay powerless, and only within an hour later, once the guys in their other rooms wherever playing the online poker table snatching my chips blind over and over in time-out, and the tournament was over, would my house come back to life. Sometimes I would try to run over to my neighbor’s to try to get on there and pick up where I left up, but when I touched their keys too, it was like clockwork: sitting in the nothing. It went on like this for years. You’d think that eventually I gave up playing, that the frustration of all the work coming to nothing would drive me to throw my computer in a ditch for life. It didn’t. it never did that. I play cards everyday.

Chinese Lanterns have been round for centuries. Devised by the far-famed military strategian, Zhuge Liang (also known as Kong Ming), these lanterns were in the first place used as signalling devices in times of warfare. Well, it seems that they are moving back to their roots…In an humorous turn of fate, Chinese lanterns are making remarkable controversy in coastal regions across the UK because they are being mistook for distress signals. Recent news has noted that innocent parties commemorating the loss of a dear one or celebrating with their families have stimulated chaos when their lanterns stimulated over-sensitive coastguard officers to contact rescue teams. It would look that these elegant, slow ascending paper objects can be all too easily mistaken for vast great flare guns…hmmm.Of course, emergency services are there for a reason; to avert and prevent possible disasters, far safer that they presume the worst than turn a blind eye towards a real life-threatening situation. But actually, in this instance, a pair of binoculars might simply do the trick. Launching a sky lantern (or many lanterns) is a wonderful way of commemorating an important occasion, whether it be a marriage, birth, or death and it would be sincerely sad if this were no longer permitted in certain areas. So, if you live in a coastal town and choose to free some Chinese lanterns this weekend, perhaps practice a little care and inform those short-sighted coastguards beforehand!

online poker is an amazing game, but can you play it anywhere other than at the casino and at home? I’m not talking about the average, casual poker game with a group of friends. My question is- can you really duplicate the casino experience at home? We are a society that, as a whole, values spectacle. And make no mistake about it, modern poker is a spectacle. Just think about how much of it is televised. It’s kind of in the same realm as team sports where there are superstars and celebrities. So many people think that they can pay the same game at home as you can at your local casino. But should you really play at home?
I am firmly in the camp that says that you cannot actually replicate the casino experience at home. As much as you may try to replicate the experience by buying official chips or cards, you just can’t do it. After all, do you really go to a casino for the cards and chips? No. You go to a casino for the experience! That very indefinable quality that makes the casino so appealing is the reason why you cannot replicate it at home. Unless you live in a casino hotel, but how many of us can really live out that particular dream?

Getting up each day and not being the happiest person alive is ok, we all get up on the wrong side of the bed. What can happen is if you wake up on the wrong side of the bed on a regular basis you will start to find yourself surrounded by others who also woke up on the wrong side of the bed and then this turns into a big mess. For the most part what you create in your mind will transform into reality. If you envision unhappy people around you, then that is what you will get. If you truly want to be surrounded by the best of the best then you yourself have to be in that frame of mind and state.
There is a cycle of enthusiasm and the more enthusiastic you are about certain aspects of life, then the more you will find yourself surrounded by people who are also enthusiastic about it. A cycle is something that occurs over and over and if a healthy cycle is created then you can experience a positive outcome on a regular basis. Not all of us are meant to have this cycle of enthusiasm, for some people it is the last thing that they would ever want. However, being around a person who truly is passionate and enthusiastic about a specific aspect of their life is very inspirational.

Live poker rooms and casinos often feature Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments with “rebuys” which allow players to put in more money and buy more chips. Each player pays a fixed fee (or sometimes no fee at all) to enter the tournament and gets a short stack of chips. The blinds are typically structured so that the standard starting chip stack will be close to depleted by the time the first break occurs, which also marks the end of the re-buy period. If you haven’t won any poker hands during that time, your chips will be almost gone.
The rules for re-buy amounts can vary depending on the establishment. Some may offer just one re-buy at a fixed rate per player. Others may only offer the re-buy opportunity to those who have gone below a certain level of chips. Most often though, there is high limit set on re-buys, with players able to purchase a huge stack of chips. This type of tournament skewers the outcome toward those willing to invest bigger amounts of money. It is not a level playing field for those who want limit their tournament fee to a smaller amount.
Be sure you understand how the re-buy is structured before you enter these types of tournaments. Re-buy tournaments can offer large prizes, so replenishing your stack can make sense - but set a limit on what you are willing to lose on one poker tournament.

As a lover of words, I’ve often found it interesting to look into the words we choose to use when we’re interacting in a particular culture or group. The gambling world is no exception. I mean think about it we use words like “Yahtzee,” “nuts” “river,” “turn” and “flop.” And all of them have meaning outside the poker world that is very different than the meaning when we use them at the table.
So what makes us do this, why do we use this slang and jargon. One prominent linguist, James P. Gee, defines it simplywe do it to show we’re part of the group, that we’re in the know.
While’s Gee’s principles of linguistics get pretty complex, at times bordering on absurdity, the simplicity of his group theory really hits home.
And if you think about it, we do this everywhere. Lawyers do it, with a kind of legalese that the laypeson doesn’t understand. Doctors do it with their Latinate origins for the words they use. And we do it when talking about the poker hands, flops and scenarios we face.
Big Slick, Rockets, Airplanes. It’s all just done to show that we’re part of the group, that we know what’s going on. That we’re insiders.
I’ve always been under the impression that poker is an incredibly social game. In fact I’ve heard it said that Poker is a game about people played with chips and cards. I holds true, the words we use, they’re part of our identity, part of the mask we slip on when we’re playing, part of our poker costume. We do it because despite all our differences, we’re united through the common medium of poker.
