Best Levitra

Levitra is the best treatment for erectile dysfunction in men. Erectile dysfunction, ED, is the powerlessness to obtain or preserve an erection.

Levitra, therefore, became the best flexible, feasible cure to one of men’s impotence problems. That helps blocking an enzyme in the body and also relaxing the vessels, helping circulation, in case of erectile dysfunction; Men with a heart condition should not take VARDENAFIL. Consult with your doctor before taking any ED medication. Levitra can be purchased in 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg tablets. You should never exceed the recommended dose of 100mg per day. On the other hand, most health problems will not prevent you from safely and effectively using Levitra to improve your sex life. Volunteer Anthony Loeff is writing about software applications for visually impaired people

Filed under: Health, Meds + Medicine, Software Programs — admin @ 9:32 am

The console-based Oralux Linux distribution ships with three screen-reading environments: Emacspeak, Yasr and Speakup.

A screen reader is a software application that attempts to identify and interpret what is being displayed on the screen. Access technology such as screen readers and Screen magnifiers enable the blind to use mainstream computer applications. Web browsers, word processors, icons and windows and email programs are just some of the applications used successfully by screen reader users. Only a small fraction of this population, when compared to the sighted community, have Internet access.

Increasingly, screen readers are being bundled with operating system distributions. Experimental approaches in sensory substitution are beginning to provide access to arbitrary live views from a camera.

A persons choice of screen reader is dictated by many factors, including platform and the role of organizations like charities, schools, and employers.

The latter developed in part by Knopper who has a visual impairment. The Macintosh OS also comes with a built-in screen reader, called VoiceOver.

However functionality remains limited compared to equivalent desktop applications, the major benefit is to increase the accessibility of said websites. The movement towards greater web accessibility is opening a far wider number of websites to adaptive technology, making the web a more inviting place for visually impaired surfers. Linux distributions for the blind include Oralux and Adriane Knoppix. Screen reader choice is contentious: differing priorities and strong preferences are common. There are also open source screen readers, such as the Linux Screen Reader for GNOME and NonVisual Desktop Access for Windows.

The primary audience for such applications is those who have difficulty reading because of learning disabilities or language barriers. Indeed, using a screen reader is, according to some users, considerably more difficult than using a GUI and many applications have specific problems resulting from the nature of the application. Most legally blind people 75 percent do not use computers. Comming month Anthony Loeff medical volunteer is reporting screen readers for people who are blind Recent versions of Microsoft Windows come with the rather basic Narrator. Approximately 21 percent of those deemed legally blind, by any measure, have no vision. The open source GNOME desktop environment long included Gnopernicus and now includes Orca. The rest have some vision, from light perception alone to relatively good acuity. Screen readers are a form of assistive technology potentially useful to people who are blind, visually impaired, or learning disabled, often in combination with other AT such as screen magnifiers. This interpretation is then represented to the user with text-to-speech, sound icons, or a braille output. While Apple Mac OS X includes VoiceOver, a more feature-rich screen reader. Screen readers can be assumed to be able to access all display content that is not intrinsically inaccessible.

Later versions of Microsoft Windows include an Accessibility Wizard & Magnifier for those with partial vision, and Microsoft Narrator, a simple screen reader.

Losing Weight Requires Some Major Lifestyle Changes

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 12:44 pm

Once you have made up your mind to lose weight, you should make that commitment and go into it with a positive attitude. Losing weight requires major lifestyle changes, including diet and nutrition, exercise, and behavior modification. We all know that losing weight can be quite a challenge. It takes time, practice and support to change lifetime habits. But it’s a process you must learn in order to succeed.

To be successful at losing weight, you need to change your lifestyle and not just go on a diet. This requires cutting back on the number of calories you eat by eating smaller amounts of foods and choosing foods lower in calories. It also means being more physically active. Most health experts recommend a combination of a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for weight loss.

Exercise does not have to be strenuous to be beneficial. And some studies show that short sessions of exercise several times a day are just as effective at burning calories and improving health as one long session. Look at the exercising aspect of your program as fun and recreation.

Experts say that walking is one of the easiest and most useful exercises you can do. It helps the total circulation of blood throughout the body, and thus has a direct effect on your overall feeling of health. There are things such as aerobics, jogging, swimming and many other exercises which will benefit a weight loss program. Discuss the options with your doctor and take his advice in planning your exercise and weight loss program.

Remember that the most important changes are long term. No matter how much weight you have to lose, modest goals and a slow course will increase your chances of both losing the weight and keeping it off. It takes time, practice and support to change lifetime habits. But it’s a process you must learn in order to succeed.

Lose More Weight - Four Ways To Modify Your Daily Calories

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 3:05 am

Most of us realize that in order to lose weight we have to reduce our daily caloric intake and/or increase our daily caloric expenditure. The challenge for the average person is to figure out how to do this as simply and painlessly as possible. If we can do these things simply and painlessly, then we have a better chance of continuing to do them and being successful for the long term. So what are some ideas on how we can meet this challenge while keeping it as simple and painless as possible?

Let’s keep in mind that most sensible weight loss plans recommend losing no more than two pounds per week. In caloric terms that translates to a change of about 1,000 calories per day. That probably sounds like a lot, but let’s look at some simple things that will help.

Here are four ideas that I think meet the bill:

1. No matter what kind of weight loss plan you are on, you need to include exercise as one of the components. Why? Because exercise not only burns calories, it builds muscle. And muscle tissue burns more calories than fat tissue. In other words, you get extra caloric benefit by exercising.

A 175 pound person can burn about 10 calories per minute by walking briskly or jogging slowly. Exercise professionals generally recommend a minimum of 30 minutes on most days of the week of aerobic (walking, etc.) exercise to maintain heart health. Let’s do the math. Thirty minutes of aerobic exercise each day will burn about 300 calories. If we throw in 2 days of strength training (which is also recommended), we can be pretty confident that we will average a daily caloric deficit of 300 calories. And that doesn’t take into consideration the fact that the aerobic exercise will increase our general metabolic rate, which will help us burn even more calories.

There are a number of researchers out there now that are talking about using the concept of high density, low calorie foods to help us make major, positive adjustments to our diets. Using these concepts will help you to feel fuller, while eating substantially less calories.

2. Try cutting down on some of the high calorie foods that you eat. Remember that fat has twice as many calories as proteins or carbohydrates. Also, sugary foods and many white flour foods have a lot of calories and very little nutritional value. So try to cut down on high fat items as well as foods with a lot of sugar. Cakes and cookies usually have a lot of both.

3. Eat foods that have a higher moisture content. Try including more salads, juicy fruits, and broth based soups in your daily diet. Because of their high water content, these types of foods will add volume without adding calories. This will help you to feel full faster, and might keep you from eating the high calories foods mentioned above.

4. Make sure you include lots of fiber rich foods in your diet. These foods take up more room in our digestive tract, once again helping us to feel fuller. High fiber foods can also help reduce cholesterol and reduce the chance of getting things like colon cancer.

One of the researchers who have done several studies on items 2, 3, and 4 is Barbara J. Rolls, PhD. Her results indicate that following these principles can help a person to reduce their daily caloric intake by 700 to 800 calories. This, coupled with the exercise suggestions in item 1, will help you meet the 1,000 calorie per day target that will allow you to lose a safe 2 pounds of weight per week.

These are suggestions that anyone can follow simply and painlessly. So, give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised by how easy it can be to lose weight and become healthier.

Smoking Fetish Of Women

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 11:05 pm

According to one of the researches, it has been found that the smell and taste of cigarettes play a greater role in women’s smoking behavior than in that of men. Another study found that cognitive-behavioral therapy aimed at changing attitudes about weight promotes smoking cessation by women. Even if we compare their stats with men, we’ll be surprised to know that the guys who smoke are one out of every three. However, while smoking as well as smoking-related deaths from such diseases as lung cancer have been falling in men, they have been increasing in women. Smoking, in fact, takes a greater toll on the health of women than men; a smoking woman loses, on an average, 15 years of her life while a smoking man loses just over 13 years.

In the first half of the 20th century, lung cancer in women was extremely atypical. In addition to that smoking wasn’t very ubiquitous. Unfortunately, that soon changed when the tobacco industry started targeting women. In 1964, the first Surgeon General’s Report on Smoking and Health was released and it became clear that smoking was a deadly habit which engulfed 45 percentages of women all over. A media campaign followed and smoking rates began to fall, as did tobacco industry profits. But the rates declined more in men than women; the tobacco industry had started their own media campaign, once again marketing directly to women.

Lung Cancer

By 1987, lung cancer had outdone breast cancer as the leading cause of cancer deaths in women.
Today, more women die each year from lung cancer than breast cancer, uterine cancer, and ovarian cancers combined. In fact, lung cancer among women is now considered a scourge, killing almost 75,000 in the US last year. Women appear to be more vulnerable to lung cancer than men, and they tend to get it at younger ages.

Symptoms of Lung Cancer

• Shortness of breath
• Fever with an unknown cause
• Hoarseness
• Chest pain
• Wheezing
• Coughing up blood
• Chronic cough
• Weight loss & loss of appetite

• Repeated bouts of bronchitis or pneumonia

Other Smoking influenced Diseases in Women

While lung cancer might be the most lethal disease caused by smoking, it’s not the only one. Smoking doubles the risk of having a heart attack, and increases the risk of dying from a heart attack within the first hour. This is an especially serious problem for women since women are more likely to die after a first heart attack than men. Women who use birth control pills; and smoke are at especially high risk of having a heart attack.

Smoking also increases the risk of other cancers, including breast, uterine cancer, bladder and oral cancer. Smoking also increases a woman’s risk of low bone density and osteoporosis.

Smoking-Related Disorders in Women

• Heart disease
• Stroke
• Lung cancer
• Emphysema
• Oral cancer
• Uterine cancer
• Breast cancer
• Bladder cancer
• Rectal cancer
• Colorectal polyps
• Osteoporosis
• Infertility
• Early Menopause
• Miscarriages
• Stillbirths

Family Matters

Smoking is not just bad for women; it’s bad for their families and future families as well. Smoking can cause infertility in women. If a woman becomes pregnant, smoking increases her risk of miscarriages, stillbirths and premature births. Mothers who smoke during pregnancy are also more likely to have babies with asthma, sleeping disorders and chronic ear infections than non-smoking mothers. The menstrual cycle phase has an effect on both mood and tobacco withdrawal symptoms for women trying to quit smoking — a finding that clearly suggests that women could improve their success rate simply by starting their quit attempt during certain days of their cycle.

Cosmetic and Other Considerations

Ironically, teens and young women often think smoking is sexy and glamorous. However, the consequences such as stained fingers and teeth, tooth loss, gum disease, bad breath are anything but sexy and glamorous. Smoking also hastens the aging process most likely because of its adverse effect on estrogen. It can cause early menopause, facial wrinkling, and permanent voice lowering and urinary incontinence.

Old Habits Die Hard

Women and girls are not only more susceptible than men to the negative consequences of smoking; they are more likely to become addicted to cigarettes even when smoking comparable amounts.

Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to a man…and woman. Researchers are studying gender differences in smoking behavior and working to develop treatment plans that will help more women end their nicotine addiction. In fact, nicotine is considered more addictive than heroin or cocaine. And nicotine is more addictive for women than men.

The highly addictive nature of nicotine is a major reason why most people have difficulty quitting smoking, and women have a harder time quitting than men. Another thing that makes quitting difficult for women is the weight gain that, unfortunately, often accompanies quitting smoking. On the other hand, the weight gain, which rarely exceeds five pounds, can be reversed by a healthy diet and exercise.

More importantly, quitting smoking can also reverse many of the deadly consequences of the habit.

Weighing the Benefits

A woman who stops smoking reduces her risk of stroke to pre-smoking levels. Within a year, her smoking-related risk of heart disease drops by 50 percent. After three years, the risk of a heart attack is no greater than for a woman who never smoked. Within five years, her smoking-related risk of heart disease can disappear altogether. Clearly, the benefits of quitting outweigh the possibility of any weight gain. So think again…Are we going the right way?

The Tao of Weight Watchers Part One

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 11:08 pm

Weight Watchers inspired me to change my eating habits, lose weight, exercise and, indirectly, learn to cook healthy and incredibly delicious food.

Now, I’m not affiliated in any way to the organisation, and I am not in their payroll. In fact, I am no longer going to Weight Watchers, and I am not even suggesting that you should join too. But I am telling you this because it will explain how the system worked for me, and why, and - after getting appropriate medical advice - you may wish to consider it too.

I first became seriously interested in losing weight when I reached the 99.9 kg mark (220 lb) in June 2003, with a hight of 1.67 cm (5′6”).

Several years ago I had done the Scarsdale diet and managed to lose about 10 kg, but only managed to keep slim for about 6 months.

After that I tried that diet (and several others) several times but to no avail. The diets were too harsh, and although I would lose weight one week, I would double the loss the following week. I was doing the “yo-yo” diet.

In 2003, after a friend of mine told me that I looked “prosperous”, I decided it was time to do something in respect of my physical well being and followed the Anthony Robbins’ formula of success:

  1. Know what you want to achieve
  2. Find out where you are in relation to that goal
  3. Find out who has done it, and how
  4. Follow the same steps, vary them according to your circumstances, and keep trying till you get to your goal.

I did a bit of research about the different weight loss methods out there, and somehow I decided to give Weight Watchers a go.

Weight Watchers has been around, but it has been until very recently that they developed a special “Points” system, which consists of assigning a point-value to foods based on the amount of kilo joules, fat and (in theory) the amount of fibre each food contains. All this is estimated by using a patented formula.

Depending on you height, weight and gender, you can have a certain amount of food points a day. If you stick to that number of points, you lose weight, gradually and safely.

You are therefore encouraged to “watch what you eat” (hence the name “Weight Watchers”), by keeping track of whatever you consume.

But counting your points is only a part of the whole system Weight Watchers offer. The real value of the program is that:

  • It educates you as to how food works in relation to your weight
  • It keeps you focused on your goal by requiring you that you attend to a weekly meeting to record your weight, and to share your experiences with other members.
  • It gives you access to a large number of foods, recipe books, and other tools that will help you stick to your goals.

But Weight Watchers does not only focus on what you eat, and how much. It also teaches you to exercise to “burn” extra points to accelerate your weight loss, or to allow you the freedom to eat certain treats.

You could say that Weight Watchers’ Pure Points system teaches you to “budget” your meals, without having to worry about calories or amount of fat per portion.

But what I love best of Weight Watchers is that you learn to cook healthy and delicious food. This, alone, makes it easier to stick to your weight loss goals because the food is delicious, and you discover how easy is to gradually include healthy food into your life.

If you would like to how many points you need in order to lose weight following the Points system, click here to read The Tao of Weight Watchers Part 2.

Hoodia Gordonii - The Basic Facts

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 10:14 am

Theres a recent contender in the weight reduction market that’s
been causing quite a stir and according to many has superb appetite suppressant qualities.
However, Hoodia Gordonii also has other major benefits including
metabolism booster, fat burner and energy enhancer.

Hoodia Gordonii is a leafless succulent plant that has the appearance of a cactus and originates from the Kalahari Desert in South Africa.

Originally used by local tribes to ward off hunger pains on long trips, the hoodia Gordonii secret became publicised in the western world over the last couple of years and after many clinical tests has become accepted as an aid to weight loss programs.

It is believed by researchers that a molecule within the plant contains these hunger suppressant particles which can also increase energy levels.

Although there are known to be at least twenty varieties of the Hoodia plant in existance, it is believed that only
the Hoodia Gordonii one contains these amazing properties.

The extract of the Hoodia Gordonii plant is emerging as possibly the greatest weight-reducing diet supplement with no known side effects. Hoodia gordonii diet pills also have a natural feel-good aphrodisiac quality. All studies performed to date have shown no ill effects amongst subjects supplementing their diet with Hoodia Gordonii.

It should be noted that Hoodia gordonii is a protected plant species, and is regulated in its international trade.
A Hoodia C.I.T.E.S certificate is required to export it out of South Africa, the only place where it grows naturally. Also, bona fide companies will provide an analytical report to
prove its authenticity.

Therefore, if you want to ensure that you are obtaining authentic hoodia gordonii, always look for hoodia product sellers that display both a C.I.T.E.S certificate and an analytical report.

Baby scanning - www.babyultrasound.co.uk

Filed under: Health, Kiddie Stuff, Meds + Medicine — admin @ 12:17 am

The method know as three dimensional ultrasound scanning is used during early pregnancy, it provides 3d images of the fetus. Most times these images are quickly collected and joined together to make a “4d ultrasound scan”.

Three dimensional scanning works similarly to the usual ultrasound methods except that the ultrasound pulses are sent from many directions. The ultrasound waves are reflected back then captured to provide information to construct a 3d picture in very much the same way as 3d pictures. 3d ultrasound was started by stephen smith and olaf von ramm.

It is important to understand that sonologists around the world always conjured three-dimensional images of anatomy or pathology in their minds whilst doing 2d scans. However, until recently it was difficult to do this kind of reconstruction on on info using ultrasound. The advent of baby scans for the first time allowed us a peek into the brain of a sonologist and so allowing us see the images on the ultrasound machine.

The 3d/4d ultrasound image should utilize ultrasound energy following the same limits as conventional 2d ultrasound to create the 3d images. There is no data to suggest harm due to 3d ultasound scanning, its use in none medical situations needs to be undertaken with an understanding of the risks involved.

Ayurvedic Body Type and Diet Recommendations

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 9:30 pm

Ayurveda recommends foods for people according to their primary body type. The reason this is done is because it is believed foods can be both healing, and the source of imbalance and difficulties. By eating foods according to our Ayurvedic body type, the belief is that we will accumulate less Ama, or waste, in the body.

In Ayurveda, people are classified according to three principles, vata, kapha, and pitta. But it’s important to understand that although we may be dominant in one principle, we actually have all three present in our body. The others are in a smaller ration. Most people will actually be a combination of two of these principles, with the third only playing a minor role. But because we all contain the three, any of them can get out of balance.

Pitta

Characteristics of Pitta dominant body types

* determination
* strong willed
* good digestion
* initiative
* energy
* passionate about many things

Ayurveda’s Pitta constitution is calmed by cooling foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables. Bitter green vegetables like watercress, parsley, collards and most greens suit pitta. Fruits that suit pitta body types include sweet berries, sweet apples and apricots, coconut, figs, mango, sweet oranges and pineapples, plums, watermelon, pomegranates, and prunes.

Other cooling foods include most dairy products, though sour cream, hard cheeses, and yoghurt don’t really suit pitta due to their being too high in fat, salt, or sour. But dairy that suits pitta includes milk, cottage cheese, soft cheeses, and ice cream!

Grains that suit pitta body types include barley, basmati rice, and wheat (unless you are allergic or gluten sensitive).

Pitta body types generally like a lot of protein, and they probably need a little more than the other Ayurvedic body types. Spices that are cooling in nature are also important. These include coriander, cumin, mint, parsley, dill and fennel. Garlic should be avoided though as it is too heating.

In terms of sweets, Pitta body types should use maple syrup, barley malt, brown rice syrup and honey that is 6 months or less old, preferably raw.

Things that can imbalance Pitta body types:

* excess heat, hot climates, and hot times of day
* humidity
* vacations and times when there is increased mobility
* excess oil in the diet
* too many hot foods, including spicy foods. But this can also mean too many cooked meals
* excess caffeine, salt, red meat and alcohol

Vata

Characteristics of people with a dominant Vata body type:

* flexibility
* quick mind
* creative
* always on the go - mentally and physically

Dietary choices that support vata aim at grounding this energy-in-motion. Routine is also very helpful, though not naturally something vata body type people will create! Vata people benefit from meditation, warmth, soothing music, taking breaks, and resting (again, not a natural vata inclination!).

With regards foods, vata body types should include warming spices, including ginger and cloves, anise, cayenne, cinnamon, garlic, horseradish, caraway, mint, mustard seeds, parsley, cooked onion, paprika, rose water, vanilla, tarragon, thyme and rosemary.

People with the vata body type should minimize raw food, including salad, though salads should not be eliminated completely as they provide valuable nutrients. But vata should ground the salad with a dressing made from oil and vinegar, and be aware of the weather at the time of eating it. Being more sensitive to cold, vata’s should have salads on warmer days.

Icy cold drinks are not balancing for vata - in fact quite the opposite. Sugar also throws vata types off balance, though vata are lucky in that they can enjoy other sweets.

Vata generally love fruit, and it suits their ayurvedic constitution. The exceptions are apples, pears, cranberries, watermelon and dried fruit. Vata types should go for sweet and moist fruit, like mangoes, nectarines, bananas, coconut, fresh figs, peaches, and strawberries.

Cooked grains like oatmeal, basmati rice, and brown rice, are very grounding for the vata ayurvedic constitution. Beans (legumes), on the other hand, are not! Beans are cold, dry, and heavy - not the attributes that support vata.

Things that can imbalance vata dominant body types include:

* a lot of travel, especially by plane
* loud noises
* constant stimulation
* drugs, sugar and alcohol
* cold climates (especially extremely cold ones) and cold food
* frozen and dried food

Kapha

Characteristics of people with a kapha dominant body type:

* strength
* stamina
* endurance
* groundedness
* calm
* fluid

Kapha body types are not suited to a high protein diet like the Atkins diet. Not only should they avoid too much fat, but also, excessive heavy protein. The kapha quality is already heavy, and although this doesn’t sound great, it is what provides Kapha body types with a wonderful stability and strength.

Kapha should have light and low fat protein. Beans, with the exception of soy and soy products, are great for kapha. Soy milk is preferable to dairy though, for kapha. Beans help move kapha’s energy, and digestive system, a bit. Barley is also excellent. In terms of meat, chicken and turkey suit kapha.

Kapha body types should have plenty of vegetables, including bitter vegetables, peppers, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, eggplant, lettuce, onions, potatoes, mushrooms, corn cobs, peas, beets, and celery.

Dairy is heavy and cooling, and it does not suit the Kapha ayurvedic body type. Light and crispy food, like corn tortillas and popcorn, suit kapha. Kapha people should make sure they have variety in their diet, as kapha body types have a danger of falling into a rut more than others.

Asian and Latin American style meals are great for kapha. They are spicy and light, free of dairy, and have plenty of vegetables in them.

Things that can imbalance Kapha body types:

* inertia
* too much fat in the diet, including oil we cook with!
* dairy products
* not enough stimulation and challenge
* not enough variety
* not enough exercise
* too much bread, iced foods and drinks, and sweets

Has The Cure For Cancer Been Here All Along?

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 9:46 pm

Cancer treatment and medication is a multi-billion dollar industry–so why would hospitals and pharmaceutical companies want a cure?

Have you ever heard of a doctor giving someone with stage 4 or 5 cancer a 90-100% chance of success at beating the disease? I didn’t think so. Well, there is a way you can beat these dismal odds. If you, a friend, family member, or even an acquaintance has cancer, wouldn’t you like to know the cure?

If you want to know how to beat cancer, you may need look no further than cancercuresecrets.com. They provide information that has been put under wraps for years. Did you know there is a doctor in Mexico who has a 98% success rate with curing bone cancer? Did you know clinics exist that can offer a 90-100% success rate with curing 4 and 5 stage cancers? Did you know there is a new form of super supplement that helps people quietly cure themselves of cancer? Most of us didn’t know that there exists a cancer treatment so effective, it kills cancer cells 100% of the time, anywhere in the body, with no toxic side- effects! Unfortunately, most cancer patients don’t know about this treatment… and they continue to suffer through hours of debilitating chemotherapy.

For decades, pharmaceutical companies have developed new drugs to help treat the symptoms of diseases such as cancer and AIDS. What about the cause? Why haven’t their efforts been aimed at prevention, the cure before the disease? The answer is simple. If you have cancer, the average cost of treatment is $250,000-$750,000. If people didn’t get cancer and other serious diseases, these companies would lose huge amounts of money. Their main interest, right or wrong, is staying in business.

Many people scoff at these disturbing ideas. They want to believe that they are in control of their own lives. But if you believe there aren’t immoral and unethical people out there just sitting around thinking of ways to make money at the expense of others, you are wrong. We live in a world where people cannibalize their neighbors and blow up buildings full of people, so is it that hard to believe that there are people willing to let you stay sick so they can make billions of dollars?

The answers you need may have been suppressed, but they are out there.
